Engagement Shoot By The Water – Charlotte & Rob.

We have a beautiful engagement shoot today. Featuring Rob & Charlotte. Taken in Dorset at the RSBP reserve by Stuart Dudleston. Stuart likes to capture all of the candid moments and raw emotions of his couples. His natural photography style works beautifully against the backdrop of calm waters. The couple are captured perfectly! Charlotte tells us their love story and gives her advice for brides to be who are a little bit nervous about their own engagement shoot.

We got engaged this April in France. It was our first holiday together and we went to Disneyland for the day, after a fun filled day during the illumination show in the evening he passed me a padlock that had a message engraved on it. I read the message that said will you marry me, turned around and he was down in one knee, I cried and said yes and then we both enjoyed the fireworks as an engaged couple. It was the perfect end to a magical day.

The thing I’m looking forward to the most about our wedding is having a day celebrating our love with all of our favourite people. I’m excited for our two families to become one. I also can’t wait to see his face as I walk down the isle, I’m hoping he’ll shed a tear or two. I’m also so excited for our first dance together, we have already chosen the song, it’s one that’s a bit different but means a lot to both of us so I think that will be a very special moment.

My advice would be stop worrying about what other people think. I’m not putting any pressure on myself to lose weight before the wedding. Rob asked me to marry him as I am now so why should I change for one day? He loves me as I am and I am learning to do the same. I was incredibly worried about the shoot as I usually take photos of myself where I can put the camera at a certain angle or delete it if I don’t like it or take a photo of my ‘good side’. When I saw my photos for the first time I was so surprised, I loved them! I wasn’t looking at my tummy or my arms, I was looking at my huge smile of happiness, the look of love in my eyes, they way that Rob looks at me. I’m so happy that we did it, Stuart did an amazing job at making us feel comfortable and I feel like he really captured our relationship and our feelings for each other.

Real Wedding: Down The Rabbit Hole, An Alice In Wonderland Theme – Emily & Tony.

IMG_0912

Every adventure requires a first step – The Cheshire Cat.

And today’s wedding really was a great adventure, one that went deep into the Carnglaze Caverns. But for this beautiful couple, it is also a story of how their love for each other really helped them get through the hardest of times. We hope that you enjoy the incredible wedding pictures from Bruckshaw Photography, and also the love story that is Emily and Tony’s.

“Tony is the most romantic, loving caring man I have ever met. He is my rock and he also is very spontaneous and romantic. He proposed to me the night of the lunar eclipse on  the 28th of September, 2015. He took me out at 2 in the morning! Up to the hills of Rivington near where we live. He got deckchairs out and a telescope. I have to say I was actually moaning about the cold and the wind. I asked if this was really necessary, couldn’t we see it from the house? Well at around 3am when the moon was fully eclipsed, Tony asked me to look into the telescope. I did and to my extreme delight there it was ‘marry me’ written on the moon. (He had written it on the lens of the telescope!) In shock I turned around and there he was, down on one knee holding a ring! A beautiful ring! It was the best night of my life, well untill my wedding anyway!”

“I have always been into fiction and fairytales and escaping reality. Either in books or films. I liked the idea of going through the rabbit hole and escaping into our own little fairytale. I wanted a day were we could walk into somewhere and have our own little world for the day.

Nearly 6 years ago I became quite breathless, unwell and had chest pains. After a trip to the doctors I was sent to the hospital, where after tests I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy which had already given me chronic heart failure.  I was close to falling victim to sudden heart death sydrome. At that time me and Tony had only been together 2 years. He did not leave my side at the hospital the whole time I was there. But after the prognosis of me being debilitated, having a short life and needing constant care, I was scared I may lose him. After all, he’s a young happy man only 24 and his whole life in front of him. But his love for me never wavered. He does everything for me and I think I may have found the best man in the world. I can honestly say that without Tony’s love, care and being there for me, the heart failure would have killed me off ages ago. I’d like to also say he kills himself working 60 hours a week to support us. Like I said, the best man alive.”

“As probably many other women do, I was looking at wedding dresses before I was even engaged! I love to dress in a vintage style and always go to parties in a lovely tea dress. So I knew that was exactly the style I wanted on my wedding day.

I found House Of Mooshki and I knew instantly that I would walk down the aisle in one of their dresses, if I ever got engaged. I found Cheshire Bridal Wear. A brilliant wedding dress shop that stocked many of the Mooshki dresses. They were all stunning and I must’ve tried on about 20 House of Mooshki dresses and I loved them all! I decided that I wanted to mix them up and create my own gown. The wonderful ladies at Cheshire Bridal Wear helped me pick the neckline, the length, the body, sleeves untill I had a mix of my 3 favourite dresses.

It was so exciting but also very scary. After all, I didn’t know exactly how it was going to look untill it was paid for and made… The day came and I had already been told by the lovely ladies on the phone that it was stunning, but the mixture of excitment and nerves wasn’t going to go till I saw for myself. When I first saw it I was speechless, it was beautiful. I did all I could to keep back tears, I was so happy and so relieved. I couldn’t stop twirling in it and didn’t want to take it off.”

“We live in Chorley, Lancashire. We decided we were looking for somewhere a bit different and we looked everywhere. Tony came to me and showed me the caves in Cornwall called Carnglaze Caverns. He said ‘What’s more Alice in Wonderland than underground!’ They were utterly beautiful and I knew just looking at the pictures that I wanted to get married there. We booked a hotel straight away in Liskeard, Cornwall to go and see them. We met up with the owner Caroline, who was so lovely and helpful with all the planning and setting up. We went into the caves and we fell in love with them. We booked them there and then for the 13th of August 2017.

When Tony was choosing his suit, he was even pickier than me! We looked around every suit shop and online shop we could find but he still could not find the perfect suit. So he decided to get a tailor made one. We found one close to us. It was called Lloyd Hall Menswear. They were very professional and very patient with Tony as the first time seeing him, looking at his fabric, and picking designs lasted 5 hours. Tony just wanted it to be perfect. All the little details Tony requested and the embroidery. It was all worth it when he tried it on, he was the most handsome man I have ever seen.”

“The advice I would give to other brides getting ready for their wedding is if you’re a little nervous or scared about being a plus size bride remember you are only marrying one person on your wedding day. That person has chosen you! Love handles and all! He loves you the way you are.

Enjoy it! Don’t get stressed out over the little things, as on the day none of that will matter. You won’t even realise if something’s out of place. Just be there, in the moment. It goes so fast and you can never relive it. Soak it all in. It will be the best day of your lives.”

An Engagement Shoot In The City: Sarah & Paul.

Sarah and Paul

Congratulations on your engaement, can you tell us how Paul proposed?

We got engaged in September 2017 whilst on holiday in Dubai. The proposal was very understated which I feel was more us. I think women dream of the proposal and how elaborate it will be but actually I loved that it was just the two of us. We had been out to dinner in Dubai. Came back to our hotel and typically I took my make up off, put my pyjamas on and poured myself a gin and tonic. I went to see Paul who was on the balcony. We had sat on the balcony most evenings playing cards (very rock and roll).

I sat down, chatting away, talking about how good our meal had been.  And to my shock, on the table was a jewellery box. And he got down on one knee and asked if I’d marry him!

Tell us about your beautiful engagement photoshoot.

I was really nervous about doing it. I was scared that it would be deemed as ‘cheesy’ and be a bit of ‘engagement overload’. I worried about what to wear; what looked good? What doesn’t look good?! What’s slimming? My photographer gave me some good advice on what to wear and what not to wear. So I took her advice and was delighted on the outcome of the photos. I did my hair and make up myself (make up is a passion of mine), got my best dress (Jaeger) and (Louis Vuitton) handbag and French Connection heels and was determined to look and feel my best! I wanted to look back on these photos and feel the same way in 50 years as I did on that day. And I’m so glad I did it!

Sarah and Paul will be getting married in 2019 and we wish them all the best! The venue is booked and it will be here before they know it!

Real Wedding: Walking Down The Aisle – Catrin & Andrew

Catrin and Andrew were married in 2017 and for this happy couple it really was the best day of their lives. I have had the chance to speak to Catrin a lot and she said she would love to do it all again, with Andrew of course, because of how incredible her day really was.

Catrin tells us about her wedding day highlights and gives us some great information for any bride to be out there.

What do you think was the highlight of your wedding day?

The best bit was walking down the aisle: just before, our wedding coordinator, Chrissy, who is an absolute superstar, stopped me and reminded me to stop, breathe, and take it all in. She was totally right. I loved seeing everyone there just for us, but I was SO excited to see Andrew too! We also had a moment in the hotel reception after the ceremony where our pianist, James, was playing. He noticed it was just us and played the same song I walked down the aisle to. We got to dance and just have five minutes together which is probably one of my most favourite memories ever.

Tell us about your beautiful wedding dress and your hair and make up.

My dress wasn’t anything like what I thought I had ever wanted – I had initially wanted a tea length, lace sleeved, A-line dress, and I had never even considered anything strapless! I added the sleeves as I found the idea of going with my shoulders completely bare a bit scary, but I loved the way they look, especially as we accessorised with matching appliqués. Edith and Winston got me excited about the bit I was most scared about! They looked after me and made sure I was absolutely in love with my dress. Nothing felt like too much trouble and it felt like it was a moment that they really cared about on a personal level.

Flossy and Leigh (Make Up and Hair) were amazing. The service was so professional and yet they were hilarious too. My bridesmaids and I were so happy with how we looked, and I don’t think I could have picked better.

Do you have any advice for brides who are a little nervous and haven’t yet been wedding dress shopping?

Don’t put it off. Dress shopping can seem really daunting and there’ll be times when you do it when you get frustrated you don’t look like that fairytale princess you envisaged at 6, but it can be so rewarding and so fun too. I wish I could do it all over again!

A Sensational Snowy Engagement Shoot – LaTara and Corey.

Today we have our first engagement shoot from America and it features not only a beautiful couple, but a beautiful setting. We are so excited to bring you these images!

Latara 2Latara 4

LaTara chose Kaci Lee Photography to help them celebrate their engagement and capture these stunning images. Taken in Prophecy Creek Park in Ambler, Pennsylvania.

“We chose Prophecy Creek Park partly because I had visited the park before and knew how beautiful it was and partly because our photographer Kaci had been there to shoot weddings and engagement shoots several times and she knew there would be the opportunity to have several different backgrounds all within the same location. We didn’t plan on it snowing while we were there but I am beyond happy that it did. I think it really adds sometimes to the shots.

“We’ve been engaged about 5 months as of now. We got engaged July 20th of last year during a trip to Punta Cana to celebrate our 3 year anniversary and both of our 33rd birthdays (we were born 2 days apart.)”

Latara 5Latara 3

“My advice for any brides who are nervous about their engagement shoots is two fold:

1. Don’t be afraid to glam up! I took the time to have my hair and make up professionally done and picked an outfit that I knew I felt amazing in. That inner confidence will shine through in your pictures.
2. Choose a photographer you feel comfortable with. I had spoken with a few others before we chose Kaci. I found her by far to be the easiest to talk to and to share my insecurities with. I’ve always felt really awkward taking pictures but she made the process so easy and fun because she chose poses for us to make us feel at ease and encouraged us to just sort of have fun together and not worry about the camera.”

Latara 1

We absolutely adore Corey and LaTara and we wish them the most incredible wedding day. Fingers crossed that when the time comes we will get to see all their beautiful photographs! Thank you for letting Something New share your images. xx
